The Swans: A Story of Friendship, Loyalty, and Connection

Some friendships are like rare treasures. They are beautiful, enduring, and worth celebrating. Recently, I had the honor of creating a set of custom necklaces for a group of women who have been best friends for over 20 years.

Their nickname, The Swans, dates back to their college days. It was inspired by the qualities swans are known for: loyalty, grace, beauty, and an unshakable devotion to their flock. Over the years, they have continued to embody those traits, showing up for each other through every high, low, and everything in between, even while living all over the country.

Each year, they reunite for a “just us” girls’ beach trip. No significant others. No kids. Simply time to laugh, relax, and enjoy each other’s company. Ahead of this year’s trip, they connected with me to create a design that would honor their decades-long bond.

“Distance may separate them, but The Swans remain connected by the bond they built decades ago.”

Each necklace featured a charm hand-stamped with a swan and a smaller charm with each woman’s initial. These were also the first adjustable necklaces from The Carrick Bend, with a smooth sliding closure that looks seamless when worn and fits any length - perfect for changing up a style or for gift-giving when you are unsure of someone’s preferred size.

At its heart, this piece celebrates women supporting women, a core value of The Carrick Bend. Like swans who stay true to their flock for life, these friends show the beauty of connection that endures across years and miles.
